Who We Are
Mission
Our mission is to transform the lives of urban youth through academic enrichment and community service opportunities for students in Kindergarten-12th grade.
IMPACT
Urban Scholar Academy was created to close the achievement gap of minority students in Kindergarten-12th grade within the Inglewood area.
Since 2012, we have been able to service over 650 youth in which we are proud of the following outcomes:
- Since 2016, students in Homework Club make an average of 214% progress towards annual growth goals–1.5 grade level increase during a typical school year.
- 90% of parents highly recommend our academy to other parents/guardians, in which we receive weekly referrals.
- During the 2021-2022 school year, students within our tutoring program grew 0.5-1.0 grade levels despite school closures.
- We’ve established a learning facility, in the heart of Inglewood, to ensure equity in education; providing resources that aren’t readily available at home.
- In response to the demands of the community and COVID-19, we’ve added online tutorial and in-person support for distance learners.
“My calling is rendering service to others. I feel blessed to use my teaching experience to uplift students in the community.”
