Serving High School Students
Founded in 2021, the mission of Urban Scholar Film Academy is to share the communal and creative process of filmmaking with urban youth (14-18 years of age) who reside within the City of Inglewood and surrounding communities.
Led by Imhotep Coleman (Veteran Assistant Director- Scandal, Southland, 9-11 & The Bridge ) and other industry professionals, our two year program, involves a yearly cohort of twelve students, from the surrounding area, who will learn the process of scriptwriting and filmmaking through short films, commercials, PSA, and music video group projects.
If you’re interested in having your child learn and develop hands-on experience about the film/television industry, contact us today.

The “Joy” of Youth Trailer…Coming Fall 2023
I didn’t know anything about film before going into the Film Academy. I was really happy when my mom told me that I will be able to go to the Film Academy because I was going to learn valuable skills that could possibly get me into a good career. During the program, I have learned about lights, camera angles, and scripts. I also learned how to use the bounce cards and set up scenes. In the future I would like to put these skills to work. I am even thinking of having a possible career in filming and directing .
